Holiday Happenings near Camden, Maine

As a Christmas junkie, I look forward to the Holiday happenings near Camden, Maine. Boothbay, Rockland, Camden, and Rockport all have entire weekends devoted to holiday activities. Then, there are all of the midweek activities to get you through to the next weekend. It requires serious planning to get in all of the midcoast Maine Christmas and holiday celebrations!

Pies on Parade 2017

As a new comer to the winters of mid-coast Maine in 2015, we were pleased to learn of a community event called Pies on Parade. Two years later, we are starting our preparations for Pies on Parade 2017.

Christmas by the Sea

Camden, Maine celebrates Christmas by the Sea on the first weekend in December. It is a family-friendly event that puts one in the mood for Christmas.  Some events happen year after year. Periodically, the organizers add new events. Click here for the schedule. The annual recurring events include

  • Community Christmas parade
  • Arrival of Santa
  • a tree lighting in Harbor Park
  • Caroling
  • Craft fairs
  • Concerts
  • Tree lighting and bonfire at Lincolnville Beach
  • Atlantic Ballet Company’s production of the Nutcracker
  • A Walk Through Bethlehem

Gardens Aglow 2016

As the leaves fall, I start counting down the days for Gardens Aglow 2016.  The staff at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens transform the upper gardens into the biggest and brightest holiday light display in Maine. The display lights up Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings (4:00 pm to 9 pm) November 18 through December 31, 2016. Last year, the first year, was absolutely amazing! I am an admitted holiday junkie therefore love this stuff!!
