The Hawthorn was built by S.G. Ritterbush, a prominent New England builder, and was intended as a wedding gift for his daughter Emma. According to local legend, Emma never got her wedding gift because a wealthy merchant offered her father a purchase sum he could not refuse! This lovely garden guest room is named for her.
