December 2021

• Christmas by the Sea is December 3 - 5 2021, the week following Rockland’s Christmas festival. Camden’s activities include a parade, the lighting of the Christmas tree in Harbor Park, Christmas carols, concerts and various other activities throughout the weekend.
• Holiday on the Harbor is usually the second Saturday in December. Rockport celebrates with afternoon concerts, early evening fireworks, refreshments, caroling and lighting of the Christmas tree in Harbor park. There are 2000 luminaria throughout the village.

January

• Pies on Parade cancelled for 2022. The largest fundraising event for Area Interfaith Outreach (AIO) Food and Energy Assistance. It consists of a Friday night auction, Saturday scavenger hunt in Camden with prizes, ending in a Pie Parade with over 40 pie samples in Rockland on Sunday.

February

• U.S. National Toboggan Championship February 11-13, 2022. According to the organizers at the Camden Snow Bowl, it is the only organized traditional wood toboggan race in the world. The rebuilt 400-ft wooden chute with an elevation of 70 ft enables racers to achieve speeds up to 40 mph. Registration opens November 15, 2021.
• Camden Conference February 25-27, 2022. Informed discussion on world issues. The 35^th annual conference is entitled, “Europe: Challenged at Home and Abroad”.

March

• Maine Restaurant Week Participating restaurants offer multicourse menus at a reduced rate. Wonderful opportunity to get out and sample a new-to-you restaurant.
• Maine Maple Sunday Weekend March 26 and 27, 2021. Many sugar houses in Maine open their doors to educate the public on maple sugaring and provide tastes. Read about Maple Sugar Sunday experience.

May

• Calf Unveiling Day at Aldermere Farms happens in early May. Visitors get to see the new calves and learn about the Belted Galloways and the other programs at the farm.
• Camden is Blooming is usually Mother’s Day weekend. The downtown shops have sidewalk sales, and there are children’s activities in the village.

June

• Jazz in June. June 2019 was the first time for the 3-day event with live jazz music at the Camden Opera House, outdoors at the Camden Snow Bowl, and throughout downtown. The event had to be canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID, despite a fantastic line up. Fingers crossed that the event can occur in 2022.
• Rockland Summer Solstice Celebration. A family-friendly block party with games, entertainment and food in the evening. Later, an adult-only dock party at Journey’s End Marina.

July

• Festival of Independence 4^th of July in Harbor Park and the Camden Public Library Amphitheater. In years past, there was music all day long between the two venues and fireworks to end the evening.
• North Atlantic Blues Festival July 16 and 17, 2022. A two-day prestigious blues music festival with nationally known artists held at Rockland Public landing overlooking the harbor.
• Maine Celtic Celebration in Belfast a three-day celebration of music and Celtic events.
• Harbor Arts & Books Fair held twice per year a juried arts fair with exhibitor booths in the Amphitheatre, along Atlantic Avenue, and scenic Harbor Park.
• Camden Garden Club House & Garden Tour presents multiple Camden area beautiful and unique properties and gardens for a 1-day show presented rain or shine on the third Thursday in July from 9:30am to 4:00pm.
• Camden Shakespeare Festival usually presents a Shakespeare comedy and tragedy over multiple dates in the Camden Amphitheater or High Mountain Hall.
• Camden Classics Cup scheduled for July 28-30, 2022. It is a relatively new regatta but growing popularity fast. There are community events and parties in the evening.

August

• Lobster Festival August 3 through 7, 2022 is held in Rockland’s Harbor park. Amusement rides, carnival games, parades, events, arts and craft, food vendors and ‘lotsa, lotsa, lobstah’.
• Maine Boat and Home Show August 12-14, 2022 in Rockland Harbor. One can find elegant boats, live music, a food court, craft beer, fine furniture and jewelry, and an area just for kids.
• Merryspring Kitchen Tour is a one-day fundraising event for Merryspring’s programming. The tour presents multiple fine home kitchens, with local chefs preparing gourmet tastings at each stop.
• Union Fair August 20 through August 27, 2022. A celebration of agriculture in Maine. Explore 4-H Exhibits, livestock shows and auctions, demolition derbies, harness racing, fireworks, live music and indulgent fair food!

September

• Windjammer Festival a celebration of Maine’s Maritime Heritage in Camden Harbor over Labor Day weekend including lobster crate races, schooner parade, talent show and fireworks.
• Maine Open Lighthouse Day Sponsored by the US Coast Guard offers the public the opportunity to climb and learn about over two dozen historic Maine lights including several in the Midcoast.
• Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) CIFF is recognized as one of the top documentary film festivals in the world.
• Harbor Arts & Books Fair held twice per year. A juried arts fair with exhibitor booths in the Amphitheatre, along Atlantic Avenue, and scenic Harbor Park.
• Maine Open Winery Day is where wineries, including those local to Camden, host special tastings, tours, and events to celebrate wine making in Maine.
• Pemaquid Oyster Festival. Learn about oyster farming, watch oyster shucking, enjoy great food and drink, and music.

October

• Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta is scheduled for October 8-10, 2022. There is a contest for who grows the largest pumpkin. Local artists decorate the pumpkins, which are on display in the downtown throughout the month of October. The pumpkin regatta is quite a site to see.

November

• Gardens Aglow at the Coastal Botanical Gardens in Booth Bay. The Botanical Gardens don festival Christmas lights providing an amazing display from just before Thanksgiving to just after New Year.
• Festival of Lights in Rockland is the weekend immediately following Thanksgiving. A small-town Christmas with a lobster crate Christmas tree, parade, arrival of Santa, shopping specials and other events throughout town and the weekend.
