Wellness Travel Guide: Activities for Fit Travel in Camden Maine

Are you looking for a destination that allows you to maintain your routine of fitness and healthy eating?  Look no further. Camden, Maine is the perfect place for fit travel.  This is the first in a series of Wellness Travel Guides and provides a list of experiences for the the active traveler to enjoy in Camden during high season (May through October).

Insider tips: Plan ahead! Make reservations for both the activities and the restaurants. Reserve a room with a jetted tub or a soaking tub to relax in after an activity filled day.



Drop off your things and head straight to Camden Hills State Park. Hike the Ocean Overlook Trail to get to the top of Mount Battie. View Camden and Rockport Harbors from above to see where you will be kayaking tomorrow.

Depending how much daylight you have left, you may want to explore more of the 30 miles of hiking trails found in Camden Hills State Park.

Get cleaned up for your farm-to-table dinner experience.  There are many farm-to-table restaurants in Camden and the surrounding area.

After a wonderfully prepared healthy dinner, return to the inn and get a great night’s sleep on a comfy bed.

Then wake up the next morning and enjoy Ted’s wonderful two course breakfast.  If our daily entree doesn’t meet your needs, farm fresh scrambled eggs are always available.  We gladly accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions.

Depending upon the day of the week, the available adventures are different. There is a Harbor to Harbor tour from Rockport Harbor to Camden Harbor with lunch on Curtis Island. There is a St. Georges River tour and a Megunticook Lake tour as well and both have opportunities to see wildlife and beautiful scenery.


Take to the road on a bicycle and explore more of the Midcoast. The 2018 Camden Rockland Regional Guide has some great suggestions for rides of varying lengths and difficulties.

Now that you have worked up quite the appetite, it is time to experience your second farm-to-table restaurant. Eating healthy never tasted so good!

After dinner, take a nice long soak in your private whirlpool tub to relax the muscles that you worked so hard, and get another great night’s sleep.

Rock Climbing

Fuel up for another active day with a delicious breakfast included in your overnight stay.  Then head over to Maiden Cliff to meet your climbing guide.

There are 2 companies that lead guided rock climbing tours in Camden Hills State Park; Equinox Guiding Service and Northern Vertical Climbing Guides. You can work with either company regardless if this is your first climbing experience or if you want to improve your skills. Rock climbing is an excellent travel workout.

Stand-Up Paddle Boarding

Finish up with Stand Up Paddle boarding on Lake Megunticook or just go for a swim.
